Waterproof gear for walking in Ireland

I think I’m done with the sofa
I think I’m done with the hall
I think I’m done with the kitchen table, baby
Let’s go outside (let’s go outside)
In the sunshine
I know you want to, but you can’t say yes
Let’s go outside (let’s go outside)
In the moonshine
Take me to the places that I love best

(Let’s Go Outside, George Michael)

The days are getting longer, the rain is getting warmer, it’s time to go outside!!!
I live in Ireland and refuse to let the Irish weather put a damper on my love for the outdoors! You see, this country is a true walker’s paradise: from rolling hills to dramatic rock formations, from high sea cliffs to adventurous mountain terrain: the possibilities are endless.

But yes, you need to come prepared!
Water- and windproof gear is the way to go! Whether it’s trousers, boots or jackets!
Over the last few weeks I have been testing out the Trespass Malissa Women’s Waterproof Jacket and I’m happy to say it stood the test!

I decided to take my brand new jacket up Cave Hill, a basaltic lump of rock overlooking the city of Belfast.  Cave Hill offers a big bowl of fresh air, accompanied by panoramic views over Belfast Lough and all the way to Scotland on a clear day!

It’s dry as I set off, but gradually clouds are gathering and it doesn’t take a long time before the first drops start to fall. No hiding underneath a tree for this girl: time to test how waterproof this jacket exactly is!
After standing in the pouring rain for 10 minutes and avoiding awkward looks from other walkers, I am happy to say that the taped seams, zip- and velcro fastening and adjustable hood kept all water at bay!
The day continues Northern-Irish style, which means after the rain, it’s time for the wind to come out! The howling wind at the top of Cave Hill could make you freeze to the bone. But once again, the Malissa Women’s Waterproof jacket comes to the rescue! I am kept really warm thanks to the Tres-tex fabric and padded interior!

Apart from being waterproof and windproof I also want my outdoor jacket to be really comfortable. I have a dog that needs walked several times a day, so I need to be able to move freely and the jacket needs enough pockets to store my phone, wallet, keys, …so I can fully concentrate on managing a mad wee Jack Russell terrier!
No problem there: 4 side- pockets and a good-size inner pocket keep all my valuables safe and easily at hand!

The Trespass Malissa Women’s Waterproof jacket is a really good quality jacket, ideal for the outdoors in Ireland and the UK! It’s functional and very important too, it’s affordable! I might just have a look at their waterproof trousers too!

This product was offered to me in exchange for a review. As always, all opinions are my own and I only agree to promote products I am 100% satisfied with myself!
